그날 밤 주님께서 나타나셨습니다 솔로몬에게 꿈속에서 하나님께서 말씀하셨습니다 " 무엇을 원하느냐 ? 구하라 , 그러면 내가 너에게그것을 줄 것이다 !" . 솔로몬은 대답했습니다. 당신은 놀랍도록 친절하셨습니다 나의 아버지 , 다윗에게 왜냐하면 그는 당신에게 정직하고 진실하며 충직했기 때문입니다 그리고 오늘 당신은 이 엄청난 친절을 그에게 계속하셨습니다. 그를 계승할 아들을 주심으로... 오 주 나의 하나님 , 지금 당신은 나를 왕으로 만드셨습니다 내 아버지 , 다윗을 대신하여 하지만 저는 동서남북도 못 가리는 어린 아이와 같습니다 그리고 여기에 나는 있습니다 당신의 선택된 백성들 가운데 , 그 나라는 너무 커서 백성들이 너무 많아 셀 수 조차 없습니다 .

That night the LORD appeared to Solomon in a dream , and God said, " What do you want ? Ask , and I will give it to you!" Solomon replied, "You were wonderfully kind to my father, David , because he was honest and true and faithful to you. And you have continued this great kindness to him today by giving him a son to succeed him. O LORD my God, now you have made me king instead of my father , David , but I am like a little child who doesn't know his way around . And here I am among your own chosen people , a nation so great they are too numerous to count!

나에게 분별력 있는 마음을 주시옵소서 당신의 백성을 잘 다스릴 수 있도록 그리고 옳고 그른 것의 차이를 알 수 있도록.. 왜냐하면 누가 홀로 이 거대한 당신의 나라를 다스릴 수 있단 말입니까 ? 주님은 솔로몬의 대답에 기뻐하셨다 그리고 즐거워하셨다 그가 지혜를 구한 것에 대하여 그래서 하나님은 대답하셨다 , “ 네가 나의 백성을 다스리는 지혜를 구하였고 오래 사는 것이나 너 자신을 위한 부유함이나 적들의 죽음을 구하지 아니하였으므로 나는 네가 구한 것을 너에게 줄 것이다. 그리고 나는 너에게 일찍이 어느 누구도 가져 본적도 없고 앞으로도 결코 가질 수 없는 현명하고 분별력 있는 마음을 줄 것이다 !

Give me an understanding mind so that I can govern your people well and know the difference between right and wrong . For who by himself is able to govern this great nation of ours ?" The Lord was pleased with Solomon's reply and was glad that he had asked for wisdom . So God replied , " Because you have asked for wisdom in governing my people and have not asked for a long life or riches for yourself or the death of your enemies -- I will give you what you asked for! I will give you a wise and understanding mind such as no one else has ever had or ever will have!

And I will also give you what you did not ask for- - riches and honor ! No other king in all the world will be compared to you for the rest of your life ! And if you follow me and obey my commands as your father, David did , I will give you a long life ." Then Solomon woke up and realized it had been a dream . Some time later , two prostitutes came to the king to have an argument settled . " Please , my lord," one of them began, " this woman and I live in the same house . I gave birth to a baby while she was with me in the house . Three days later , she also had a baby. We were alone ; there were only two of us in the house. But her baby died during the night when she rolled over on it.

그러자 그녀는 밤에 일어나서 내가 잠자는 동안에 내 곁에서 나의 아들을 데려 갔습니다. 그녀는 내 팔에 자신의 죽은 아이를 놓았습니다 그리고 내 아이를 가져다 그녀 옆에 재웠습니다 . 아침에 나의 아들에게 젖을 먹이려고 했을 때 그 아이는 죽어있었습니다. 그러나 내가 아침 햇살 속 보다 자세히 살펴보았을 때 나는 그 아이는 내 아들이 결코 아니라는 것을 알았습니다 그러자 다른 여자가 끼어들었습니다 . Then she got up in the night and took my son from beside me while I was asleep . She laid her dead child in my arms and took mine to sleep beside her. And in the morning when I tried to nurse my son , he was dead! But when I looked more closely in the morning light , I saw that it wasn't my son at all ." Then the other woman interrupted, "It certainly was your son , and the living child is mine ." " No ," the first woman said, "the dead one is yours , and the living one is mine." And so they argued back and forth before the king. Then the king said , " Let's get the facts straight . Both of you claim the living child is yours , and each says that the dead child belongs to the other.
